Self-Worth Beyond Likes and Followers: Practices for Real Life Confidence

With social media being so influential in today's world, it's easy to get caught up in the validation of likes and followers. We’re here to remind you that your true worth comes from within, not from external validation.

Here are some secret tricks to unlock your hidden confidence and build amazing self-worth:

1. Create Your Gift List! Everyone has things they're super good at, or things that are super important to them. Maybe you're super honest, super creative, or super funny! Think about the things that make you, YOU, and write them down! This is your gift list! When you use your gifts to help others or do things you love, you feel amazing. Start acknowledging your gifts and learn how to use them for yourself regularly. 

2. Talk to Yourself Like You Talk to Your Best Friend! Sometimes we can be really hard on ourselves. But would you ever say mean things to your best friend? Nope! So next time you mess up, instead of saying "Ugh, I'm so bad!" try saying, "Hey, that's okay. Everyone makes mistakes. What can I learn from this?" Remember, the longest relationship you’ll ever have is the one with yourself. 

3. Set Goals as Your Future Self: Do you ever dream of learning a new skill? Make a goal that's important to YOU, and then work backwards to plan how to achieve it and make space to celebrate when you reach it!

4. Squad Up with Like-Minded People: The people you hang out with can really affect how you feel. Misery loves company is not a lie. Find friends who think highly of you just the way you are, and who encourage you to be yourself! Real friends will cheer you on, not bring you down. 

5. Be Kind to Yourself: Sometimes things get tough, and that's okay! Even Beyonce trips up sometimes. The important thing is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep going. Next time you’re having a bad day, treat yourself how you would treat a loved one having a bad day and watch your mood improve. 

6. Do the Things You Love! What makes your heart happy? Playing sports? Creating art? Doing the things you love is not only rejuvenating to your soul, but it’s the easiest form of self-care. Get up and start doing more of what makes you smile!

7. Social Media? Take a Break Sometimes! The internet can be a fun place, but sometimes it can make us consume too much negativity. If you start feeling down after looking at your phone, take a break! Don’t feel bad giving your social media refresh by unfollowing the people who trigger negative emotions and following new people who inspire you. When taking social media breaks, get present by going outside, connecting with your friends, or working on your hobbies. Remember, your authenticity comes from who you are, not how many likes you have!
